Are there any social justice projects going on in your church or organization? What projects or issues?

At the STL Meeting we have the Peace Committee which is an on-going committee that works to address and connect local social justice issues to larger global issues. Projects include education and outreach to the Meeting, supporting individual peace work, as well as supporting and promoting both religious and secular social justice groups. The peace committee was the launching place for the Alternatives to Military Service Network.

The Meeting also has an LGBT committee. In the past this committee has looked at social justice and spiritual issues for the LGBT community and worked on education and outreach within the meeting and beyond.

Does your church or organization offer any opportunities for adult education, such as forums, discussions, educational sessions?

Friends offer many after meeting educational opportunities for discussions and presentations. The meeting house is often made available to groups for presentations and sessions as well. The peace committee is beginning a monthly forum.

Friends are also attempting to develop an adult education program for First Day mornings that would explore Quaker testimonies with real life practice as well as other spiritual topics.
